Fighter Pilot, Warrior, Husband and Father

June 22, 2004, Tucson, AZ

Obituary

Lt. Col. Mark “Dutchy” DeCesari found joy in the sky. He made his final flight the morning of the day he died, June 21, 2004. That evening he reported to his Supreme Commander, his Lord, Jesus Christ.

To those who knew Mark, he wasn’t defined by his job as an F-16 Instructor Pilot for the Tucson Air National Guard, or his passion for racing motorcycles. It was his deep commitment to his wife, Lisa, and their four children, Robby, David, Laura and Rachel. He was a loyal son, brother and friend. Mark was instilled with the love of God, which he shared with all who knew him. Mark was the third of five children, born January 19, 1958, in Madera, California. He entered the United States Air Force after graduating from Fresno State College in 1982. Lieutenant Colonel, Mark DeCesari, a Desert Storm Veteran, served his country for 20 outstanding years. His many awards include the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Meritorious Service Medals, three Air Medals, three Aerial Achievement Medals, Southwest Asia Service Medal, and Kuwait Liberation Medal.

Mark was preceded in death by his brothers, Robby and Rico. He is survived by his wife Lisa and their four children, Robby, David, Laura and Rachel, his mother Pearl M. Gill, his father and step-mother, Robert and Marilyn DeCesari, his sister Roseanne DeCesari, his brother Dino DeCesari, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held in Tucson, AZ. Remembrances may be made to your favorite charity. Acknowledgements or cards may be sent to Lisa DeCesari, 11941 E. Settlers Tr., Tucson, AZ 85749.
