Capt. Glen Dupuis at McDill AFB in the mid-1980s

Dupes at Pilot Training with a T-38
He was born on April 22, 1956 in Sacramento, CA. He was the first born to Alvin & Jeanette Dupuis and took that role seriously! He also liked being the first or best at anything and everything.
He grew up with 2 brothers and 3 sisters. After his father retired from the Air Force in 1971, he and his family moved home to Lafayette, Louisiana. Glen graduated high school with honors in 1974 and was appointed to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. I’m sure it was a great shock to go from being in charge of us siblings and doing his best to win everything to being the lowly freshman on campus. We would receive letters that were written by flashlight under the covers after lights were out. He worked hard (physically & mentally) and graduated in 1978 with honors, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. In addition to graduating with honors, he was a member of Mensa, an international society of individuals who score above the 98th percentile in standard IQ tests.
He went off to pilot school right after. Here are a few places he’s lived: Biloxi, MS - Cocoa Beach, FL - Tucson, AR - Del Rio, NM - Tampa, FL - Hahn, Germany. And some of the planes he piloted: OV-10, OA-37 & F-16 (receiving “Top Gun” honors).
He amassed more than 1500 hours total flying time with 400 hours in the F-16 Fighter jet. His decorations included the Air Force Commendation Medal and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.
Glen was the type of guy who enjoyed life, knew what he wanted and went after it. He loved the outdoors, flying (of course), his family, his girlfriend Sam, his 240Z, his motorcycle and even besting his own scores and records he had set previously. His laugh was loud and infectious. He lived out the motto he had engraved on the inside of his Academy graduation ring – “Winners Never Quit”, and he never did.
He was killed and was lost at sea on October 22, 1985 during an F-16 weapons deployment mission off the coast of Turkey, in the Bay of Isrederun. At the time of his death he was a Captain assigned to the 10th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 50th Tactical Fighter Wing at Hahn Air Base, West Germany.
We had the fortune of having a visit from him a month and a half before he died. We know how many lives he touched by the friends he made that still keep in touch with our family. He is and will always be in our hearts.
Signed – his siblings, Jeff, Bobby, Janine, Susan & Michelle

Glen's 10th TFS nametag. Forever a Sabre!
